Tuesday, Nov 08, 2022 NASS 2022: Orchid Exhibits at Spinal Conference In October 2022, Orchid exhibited at the North American Spine Society (NASS) conference. At Orchid, we specialize in manufacturing spinal implants at our Santa Ana, Arcadia and Chelsea sites and producing complex instruments used to insert spinal implants at our Alabama site, with the setting at NASS creating a foundation to network and market capabilities in the spinal market. Lee Garrett (Global Commercial Manager, Orchid) was part of the Orchid team attending NASS. A former District Sales Manager and Director of Sales at Conmed, Lee joined Orchid in 2022 and noted NASS as his first spine conference. “It was easy to walk around, network and identify other players in the market,” Lee stated. Key takeaways: Surgeon-focused conferences allow for intentional conversations between OEMs and suppliers regarding supply chain partnerships, as well as needs for manufacturing and coating. NASS allow OEMs to showcase new devices for surgical procedures, with a lot of focus placed on minimally invasive technologies. Additive manufacturing is the standard method for manufacturing spinal products. The spine industry has typically been quicker than the orthopedic industry to adopt new technologies, driven by differences in market forces and function requirements. We are now seeing technologies, such as additive manufacturing, evolving to solve challenges in large joint manufacturing.
