Thursday, Oct 21, 2021 Impact Academy Kicks Off at Orchid’s Chelsea Facility The commercial team is holding a series of lunch and learn events at every U.S. Orchid site for all Orchid employees. We named it Impact Academy, because we are connecting employees to the impact they have on customers, products and patients. We kicked off our first Impact Academy at the Chelsea, MI location with support from site leadership. Each Impact Academy session is unique, tailored to the site’s specific capabilities and product types. The purpose is for employees to have a better understanding of: What we do: Keith Dickey (Global Commercial Manager) walked through some of the specific products manufactured in Chelsea, including how they are used with other components and in surgeries. Why we do it: Our industry has an impact on people’s lives, and understanding our market and how the components work together helps employees understand why reliability and quality are so crucial. Who we do it for: Joe Zuzula (Sr. Director, Commercial Excellence) gave an overview of our customers and why their needs may be different, while Matt Weber (Strategic Account Manager), spoke specifically about the Chelsea facility’s customers. Some highlights from our Chelsea presentation include: The history of knee replacement surgeries. Do you know when the first knee replacement surgery was performed and what type of material was used? The difference between trials (plastic instruments) and inserts (plastic implants). Do you know what trials are used for? The evolution of knee implant designs throughout the years and primary vs. revision knee surgeries. Orchid’s position in the market and the orthopedic supply chain. What differentiates us from other contract manufacturers? We plan to visit all Orchid U.S. sites by the end of Q2 2022. Up next: Memphis and Alabama!
